Using the tools of contemporary circus, they embark on an artistic journey of exploration: They take us through a thicket of fictional-biographical stories into dystopian images of the future that tell us more about today than tomorrow. A profound, abstract circus drama with a look at the edges of social norms.
The good thing about being dead is that it reminds us that we are alive. It is a birthday party, the balloons are blown up and candles are lit. A man sits alone waiting for his guests, but no one comes. This dark circus thriller full of morbid humour and acrobatics tells of a complicated relationship. Ternura y Chocolate is both shocking and moving. The show deals with mental illness and there will be a small audience discussion afterwards.
Boutelis is the Arabic term that describes the state of semi-consciousness between waking, sleeping and dreaming. In a fascinating aesthetic, Cie. Lapsus present a strange universe and surreal dream worlds full of mystical figures. Doors do not serve as entrances or exits, but draw the artists deeper and deeper into the labyrinth of sleep. Kite flights, juggling and acrobatics lead them into distorted realities and playful fantasy worlds.
Three nationalities, three jugglers, three objects. 45 minutes of humour, madness and secret techniques never seen by a human audience before. Adhok return to at.tension with their latest promenade theatre in their trilogy of generations, this time with Watchful. Watchful is about the questions of a woman and a man around the age of 50 who look back on the most important stages of their lives. A flashback through the decades and the stages of life: from couple to family, to the children moving out and all the way to the beginning of ageing. The show looks at this intimate family history, interspersed with the upheavals of the times without nostalgia.
Can we experience the world with the utmost sensitivity? The inspiration for this moving solo piece by Ari Teperberg was a letter written by the deaf-blind author Helen Keller to the New York Symphony Orchestra in 1924, in which she describes how she "heard" Beethoven's 9th Symphony by feeling the vibrations of the radio's speaker membrane. It is a search for an alternative language to communicate across boundaries, disability and loneliness.
The Danish duo from Asterions Hus venture into Shakespeare's greatest love story: Romeo and Juliet as you have never seen it before. Right at the beginning, they build the tomb of the famous couple. In a fast-paced, funny performance they show 24 different scenes, aberrations as well as abrupt endings. They become dancing worms, sumo wrestlers in love and perform delicate ballet in wheelbarrows. Never before has so much life come from playing with death.
Quizas is a radical poetic act. The show moves between a physical performance and a danced conversation. The two artists manage to illuminate the corny topic of love in a fresh and touching way. As tools they use interviews, sociological references, personal experiences and a good pinch of humour. A hymn to love, a sharing of our doubts, our longings and laughter.

An animalistic juggling solo by Fabrizio Solinas, who has studied the behaviour of animals from courtship dance to territorial behaviour down to the smallest detail. With incredible body language and transformation skills, he creates a naturalistic immersion and a raw, loud display of animal behaviour. This show is an invitation to stimulate the imagination and an ode to life and wildlife.

Gravitational forces determine the dance. The live performed composition goes from the sci-fi sound of the 70s to soundscapes from the middle of the black hole. Mandragora is a poisonous medicinal plant from the nightshade family that has been used ritually since a very long time and to which magical properties are attributed. In a physically impressive performance, the puppeteer deals with discrimination, the experience of violence and the othering of homosexuals. In this intense piece, he expands the aesthetic means of puppet theatre with body and movement techniques of physical theatre.
In what key does a T-Rex sing and what is the vocal range of a brontosaurus? To this day, palaeon-tology remains silent on the most important questions in its field. In DINOPERA, Triceratops, Ar-chaeopterix and Co. sing about the tragedy of their own extinction on a baroque theatre stage. The group KHWOSHSC combines Czech puppetry with German opera. Les filles du renard pâle conceived Résiste as a physical and technical challenge: For over 40 minutes, the rope artist defies gravity on an unstable wire rope at a height of almost five metres. Accompanied by the driving live music of the singer on the ground. Each resists in her own way. The piece is a breathtaking high-wire dance and unstable tightrope act symbolic of life. Together we build sound machines from found everyday objects (old toys, empty cans, cardboard, etc.). The group Zirkusmaria has made it their mission to explore and show unconventional topics in inappropriate theatre for children. They have created the first trilogy in theatre for children - with a focus on empowerment. After the plays Zuhause (At Home) in 2017 and Zusammen (Together) in 2019, this year at.tension there is the Future to see. What kind of world is conceivable? How do children want to live in the future? No one can know what it will be like, but it was beautiful.
Acidfinky (she/they) is a German/Algerian DJ and producer based in Berlin. She is one of the co-founders of BLVSH, a feminist DJ collective, a resident at THF radio and owner of Twisting Knobs Records. Her sets incorporate genres with heavy drums and basslines such as bass, breaks, electro, UKG and dubstep.

A dark baritone voice, somewhere between Nick Cave and Stuart Staples, that is A.S. Fanning, Irish musician, to whom the genre of folk-noir probably fits like no other. As a child of the 90s, she spent her childhood watching MTV and producing mixtapes from radio recordings by artists:inside like Outkast and the Backstreet Boys. In her early 20s, Marie Midori diagnosed herself with a manic compulsion to collect records with that certain indefinable something. In her search for the equation between musical education and vitality for the dancefloor, she combines a wide range of styles in her sets: 90s electro, house and techno to breakbeat, acid and trance.
Mitsune is a Japanese folk fusion band from Berlin and a musical and visual feast that evokes emotion, folkloric imagery, driving grooves and wild associations. They play reinterpreted Japanese folk songs and original tunes with influences from eastern blues, jazz, psychedelic and cinematic music, spiced with their signature joy and magic.
The band project of the two multi-instrumentalists Anna-Lucia Rupp and Fama M'Boup designs a sound cosmos that allows influences, but never understands them as mere ingredients. If there is a fixed point in the Olicía cosmos, then it is the handling of the voice, and by far not only through the use of loop stations and effects. Electronic handmade loop jazz at its best!

Supastar Soundystem is an inclusive DJ collective with currently four members: DJ King Pommes, Luis Lyrisch, DJ K_arim and Bela Patrutzi. On dub, disco, afrobeat, reggae, funk and whatever else comes under their fingers, the MC Luis Lyrisch raps and beatboxes and every now and then the one or other spontaneous guest MC. Inclusion is not a given, but a constant process, which the Soundsystem shapes loudly and with fun!

Suddenly everyone is a feminist. But there is no question of real equality. Why do outdated structures persist? How can they be scrapped? Ann-Kristin Tlusty looks at the inner and outer constraints that still shape women's lives today: They are still expected to "gently" absorb the worries and needs of society. They are expected to appear sexually available in a "sweet" way at all times, even under feminist auspices. And in all this, pleasantly "gentle" should never claim too much maturity. Clever and personal, liberating and new: this polemic shakes up the gender order forever.

Dirk Bernemann, a man who says he writes "out of self-defence", is by no means an at.tension debutant. With a book about a journey into the past and, above all, into the province, he is finally coming back to our province ... Gunnar Bäumer left the province seven years ago in his late twenties to move to Berlin. Now he is returning to his parents' house for a week to "keep house". During these days, the annual Schützenfest is taking place, which he actually wanted to refuse to attend in order to get some peace and quiet. But he cannot escape the festival and within the next few days he has to face village life, his concepts of life and his past, especially his childhood sweetheart Franziska with her husband.

Duygu Ağal (she/he) is a queer activist and author from Berlin. In Yeni Yeşerenler, Ağal publishes short stories, essays and diary entries in which he reflects on plural, intersectional representation, queerness, identity politics and their borderlands, and their relation to collectivism and individualism through his own story. Yeni Yeşerenler (the reborn, getting leaves, turning green) are the words of Cennet Yıldırıms, Ağals mother, who gave the title to the anthology. Three friends in their late twenties grow up together in a Frisian village. Their friendship gives them the support that their families cannot offer them. Even after they move away, they stand up for each other. But then the secrets from each other pile up and their plans for the future no longer seem to fit together: Hannes wants to return to the village and take over his grandfather's workshop, Nico wants to start a family and Insa continues to drift along, disoriented. Their once inseparable community threatens to break apart. To the soundtrack of DJANGO REINHARDT, …BUT ALIVE and TEAM DRESCH, they travel from Friesland to Catalonia in their converted van. On the way, they explore the limits and possibilities of their relationship with each other. They get lost and argue, celebrate and despair of each other, reconnect with old times and always find each other again. With brutal honesty, they fight for their friendship in an attempt to erase every secret and reservation that could stand between them.

The workshop guides the participants through imagining and sketching ways of de-privatising and organising care in ways that are aware of intersecting unprivileged standpoints. It builds on the Pirate Care Syllabus project (https://syllabus.pirate.care/) and takes it further into a participatory creative process of political imagination. Participants focus on specific caring activities (e.g. child rearing, welcoming refugees, refusal of work) in small groups, and present their ideas.

"We want to give a platform to people who are tired of being seen but not heard in their subcultural environment. Say Ronja Schwikowski and Diana Ringelsiep, editors of PUNK AS F*CK. In it, 50 contributing FLINTA talk about their individual experiences and their personal approach to punk. The authors talk about what they experienced or had to experience as FLINTAs in the scene. At the same time they talk about what punk means to them and why it is worth fighting for this subculture from their point of view. The result is 50 different accounts of their experiences, which provide a direct insight into the everyday life of FLINTA from a wide variety of biographical backgrounds. They include scene activists, fanzine makers, punk fans and, of course, musicians like Saskia Lavaux from Schrottgrenze, Annette Benjamin from Hans-A-Plast and Patti Patex. But fashion designer Liza Sew, author Veronika Kracher and member of the Bundestag Tessa Ganserer will also have their say.

It is a movement practice that activates our physical, mental emotional, spiritual and sensual levels. It is a combination of asanas and yoga spiritual principles, Andean cosmovision, guided meditation, fitness and perreo. This practice questions binary ideas, joining opposites like Yoga and Reggaeton, or ideas such as good-bad, whore-saint , civilized-savage. This division comes from colonial thinking that does not allow us to value ourselves in our totality and this generates anxiety, emotional blocks and denial of our own bodies, identities or cultures, as an example.
In more than 60 contributions, activists from different spectrums describe the actions of the climate justice movement. They present their political reflections and give a self-critical insight into living together in climate camps, occupied villages and forests. The activists know that neither the path taken by politics nor the speed proposed are suitable to prevent the climate catastrophe with all its "side effects" such as the extinction of species, worldwide famines and wars. That is why they occupy forests like the Hambach or Dannenröder Forest, sit on open-cast excavators in Lusatia or Garzweiler, block access tracks to coal-fired power plants, fight for the preservation of villages like Lützerath, jump into the water in front of cruise ships to prevent them from leaving, or sabotage machines and other equipment necessary for the destructive business.
